Description
Music has always accompanied us and indelibly marks the most engaging passages of our lives.
Difficult music and technical virtuosity attract and gratify us, but it is the sounds and harmonies that excite us.
Lights, colors, paintings and blue skies capture us, give us serenity, satisfy our eyes. However, it is the sounds that drag our conscience, that give us "goosebumps", that annoy us, that make us feel good, that sadden us, that make us happy, that make us run or that amplify our pleasure of a sunset.
In a nutshell, these are the sounds that, passed not only from the ears, do not stop at the brain but, when they have the right frequencies, reach the heart directly.
This little piece is dedicated to musicians who are looking for a better synchrony between the notes in their head and those that reach the listener.
For music lovers who want to understand the primary mechanisms, to obtain not only a perfect reproduction, but above all an exciting listening.
To all those people who are not musicians, not passionate but curious to understand what those little vibrations printed on a record are that can change the mood.
Introduction
There is certainly no shortage of books and magazines dedicated to technologies, whether new or old, in bookstores and newsstands. More or less technical, more or less up-to-date texts of every science, are continually churned out by anyone; architects who write about cars, economists who write about technology, engineers who write about history and much more. Of course also doctors who write about medicine and scientists of science. Many publications of the highest level, which enter into a detail that is often understandable only to a few "experts". Many others, aimed at hobbyists and enthusiasts, very simple and clear, but which often, due to the need for fluency, neglect details that can make the difference between knowing and just believing it.
To say that this wants to be something better would be a vanity that does not belong to me and of course there are many similar and technically superior ones, but honestly at this moment I am not aware of anything similar in intentions. I am not an architect nor an electroacoustic engineer. I am just a musician craftsman, who for a whole life has worked with sounds, building equipment and doing maintenance and improvement modifications on factory products.
A life in contact with enthusiasts, musicians, sound professionals. A life in which I learned a lot from my clients, but I also heard a lot of nonsense.
I saw the birth and growth of the music of the early 70s which, almost in symbiosis with the extraordinary electronics of the time, exploded in that period with a strength and vivacity never repeated. I have heard the sounds change, improve, get bigger, more powerful, more precise. Then, too precise, too powerful and slowly emptying of emotions becoming something different.
In many ways better, the convenience of an MP3 player is undeniable, and today it would be foolish not to take advantage of it. However, I have also seen those suggestions that have brought up a generation of children who are now almost retired.
In many years of music in the "cellar" (then there were no "rehearsal rooms") in search with friends of perfect harmonies, of construction of electroacoustic equipment, of modifications made to improve or customize factory products, I have learned that even in music , as in life, the right is often somewhere in between.
And in the middle of things as in the human body there is the heart, an instrument that unlike the brain does not pay attention to absolute precision: the brain does the calculations, the heart simply beats fast when the right frequencies manage to caress it.
I have seen accuracy of tenths of a liter chasing in 100-liter loudspeakers, I have seen calculations with six decimals for amplifiers with a few watts of power.
I've also seen people believe that speakers have to be mounted upside down to get good bass, as I've seen huge cables being used for bass guitars because of the belief that big sounds need big cables.
I've seen 10W amplifiers with 200W cabinets because they could burn out the tweeters, I've seen 200W amplifiers with 20W cabinets because that's what "dynamics" meant.
All passionate people, and sometimes even professionals, who in good faith despite having read a lot did not always have very clear ideas.
So I thought about writing not what they teach at university, nor what they tell each other at after-concert dinners or at the record shop, but what in my experience I think is necessary to allow each interested person to satisfy their own curiosities.

There are not a few lines, in the infinity of their nuances the sounds constitute a broad discourse, but they are written in the desire to bring back to a normality that does not foresee six digits after the comma and to put some order between beliefs, utopias and urban legends .
