Carving courses

With the age that makes its weight felt and my exit from the active working cycle, collective, individual, evening or afternoon courses will no longer be frequent and regular as they have been until now, but occasional as befits an old craftsman by now retired. The carving courses are knife-tip for beginners.
Aimed at anyone, as long as they are of age, both those who have no experience with carving and sculpture and those who already carve but would like to learn the basic techniques of carving, geometric design and the characteristics of the different essences.
The courses are mainly evening of 10 evenings on a weekly basis from 20.30 to 22.30.

For those who want to deepen other carving techniques, they can continue with the cost of advanced carving and introduction to gouges, the bas-relief course and wood spirits and the course of miniatures of ancient symbols.

Knife-tip carving is an ancient art of wood engraving to embellish furniture, windows, tools and other commonly used objects up to bracelets, small wooden jewelry, leather and other materials; but also to create imaginative and ornate creations for their own sake of exquisite workmanship, of any size and complexity.
To perform it you need a minimum space, a school desk, a kitchen table or any other small support surface. With experience, and when the size of the object allows it, various amateur and professional carvers even work without a table. It makes no noise or dust and can be exercised anywhere, from the open of a lawn to the apartment in an apartment building. Carving consists in removing small pieces of wood with the appropriate knife until the desired figure is obtained. A conceptually simple activity that in reality, in order to obtain good results, requires knowledge of engraving techniques, the behavior of the wood subjected to cutting, concentration and above all respect for the very few necessary tools and materials used. For this reason, in the meetings the methods of use of the knife, the techniques of wood cutting, the recognition of the vein, the production techniques of the boards for carving are described. The different qualities of the woods, the rules of geometric design, knife sharpening techniques, the use of waxes and other classic finishes are also illustrated. It starts from the small exercise board up to even challenging decorations of great effect and satisfaction.
